In-Person Court Appearances Now the Norm

Changes Reflect State Reopening in June

Santa Ana—The Superior Court announced a return to in-person services after more than a year of remote video court appearances as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

As with many businesses and facilities throughout California, Orange County’s Superior Court in Santa Ana will no longer require those who have been fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus wear masks. Those who have not been fully vaccinated will be required to wear a mask or other face covering.

Many services at the Court can be accessed or accomplished online through the Court’s website (for example, video appearances for probate cases via Zoom) allowing those with business before the court to avoid coming to the Court physically while other matters can and will be handled by in-person appearances in a courtroom.

Because the nature of COVID-19 remains fluid, the Court urges everyone to check for updates on its website. A look at COVID statistics for Orange County (as of July 12) shows a substantial decrease in the number of cases as well as deaths. There was only one death reported on this date. The continually decreasing numbers are a positive sign and a major factor in the reopening of the Orange County Superior Court and in-person appearances.
